Can laser surgery be reimbursed for medical insurance?
Laser surgery is generally not reimbursed by medical insurance.

Laser surgery is not covered by medical insurance and is usually regarded as a medical beauty project or cosmetic surgery. For example, cosmetic surgery such as myopia surgery is not covered by medical insurance reimbursement. Although in some cases, medical insurance may cover part of the cost of laser surgery, such as examination fees and medicine fees, the cost of surgery is usually self-funded. Therefore, before laser surgery, it is best to consult doctors and local medical insurance institutions to understand the specific reimbursement policy.

Medical insurance reimbursement scope:

1. Drug reimbursement scope: Class A drugs: drugs that are basically unified throughout the country and can meet the basic needs of clinical treatment. The expenses of such drugs are included in the payment scope of the basic medical insurance fund, and the expenses are paid according to the basic medical insurance payment standard. Class B drugs: First, employees pay a certain proportion of the expenses, and then they are included in the scope of payment of the basic medical insurance fund, and the expenses are paid according to the basic medical insurance payment standard. The specific drug list shall be adjusted by the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government according to their own conditions.

2. Reimbursement scope of diagnosis and treatment items: clinical diagnosis and treatment items that are necessary, safe and effective, and have appropriate expenses, and the charging standard has been formulated by the price department. Note: Special medical services such as registration fee, out-of-hospital consultation fee, home visit fee, urgent fee for examination and treatment, surcharge for name-calling operation, high-quality and good-price fee, self-invited special care fee, and some non-functional cosmetic and plastic surgery are not included in the reimbursement scope.

3. Reimbursement scope of medical service facilities: mainly including inpatient bed fee or outpatient (emergency) observation bed fee.

To sum up, the cost of laser surgery is usually not covered by medical insurance reimbursement, and patients need to pay for it at their own expense. However, some medical services related to surgery can be paid by medical insurance, depending on the local medical insurance policy and the designated qualifications of the hospital.
