Every year, before the new branches of the cedar bonsai sprout, the top of the central trunk of each seedling and young tree of the cedar bonsai should be righted. The method is to tie bamboo and other auxiliary materials slightly higher than the tree along the trunk of the cedar bonsai, straighten the branches protruding from the trunk along the bamboo and other supports, and then tie them with hemp rope so that the terminal buds are at the highest position of the whole tree, so that more nutrients can be obtained and they can continue to grow upwards.
If there are strong lateral branches competing with the main shoot near the top shoot, the competing branches should be cut off first to weaken their growth, which is beneficial to the vigorous growth of the main top shoot.
If the original trunk extension branch of cedar bonsai grows weakly, while other adjacent lateral branches grow vigorously, we can also change the head (when the third branch is weak) or turn the head (when the third branch is strong) according to the strength of the third branch. That is, the original head of the cedar bonsai is cut off and replaced with the side.
(2) Rational arrangement of cedar main branches
There is no specific requirement for the number of main branches of the cedar spire crown, but it should not be too many and too dense to avoid dispersing nutrients. However, at present, young cedar trees in nursery production and gardens often have too many main branches, too small spacing and little difference in length, which makes the crown of cedar bonsai close to a cylinder. Therefore, when we shape the cedar bonsai, we should choose a skill at a certain interval (generally at least 15cm), so that the main branches forming a circle are separated by about half a meter on the main thousand. Even so, as the tree grows, it gradually rotates. There are often many branches between the main school and the school on the same floor. The stout ones should be cut short to slow down the growth and then cut next year. The weak ones can be cut off at the same time. If the interlayer branch is too thick, it can be removed in stages or at one time. All the branches on the main branch of cedar that are selected as the main branch for cultivation should be put slowly and not cut short. In this way, the nutrients produced by green leaves are more concentrated; And most of the floods are used for the robust growth of the trunk, which is beneficial to the robust growth of the trunk, thus forming a proper proportion of synchronous thickening with the trunk, resulting in the whole tree shape, sparse and symmetrical, beautiful and generous.
Cedar young trees often have a phenomenon of partial crown, which makes the crown vacant and must be corrected from an early age. The method is: use a rope to pull too many branches to fill the gap nearby; Or in spring, an eye injury is carried out above the bud eye at an appropriate position on the vacant surface to stimulate the hidden bud to sprout branches to fill the vacancy.
