It should be rain-proof. Dry pine, wet cypress, and cypress trees should be fine if exposed to rain. But pay attention to good drainage and no accumulation of water.

Excavation of mountain piles is the best way to source bonsai. The best seasons for digging are spring, and autumn. In autumn, when the temperature stabilizes and drops to 30 degrees Celsius for a week, it is the best season for mining. (Conifers and cypresses are not counted)

Whether the tree stump is excavated with or without soil balls, try not to damage the bark when cutting the roots. The root cuttings must be neat and must not be torn. Dig the pile material in a cracking manner. When you go down the hill and cut the roots at home, the roots should be cut in place at one time, and then use a sharp utility knife to trim the wound area in a circular motion until it is smooth and has no burrs.

After the wound is trimmed, dry the wound and use carbendazim or potassium permanganate to spray the wound to wet it for disinfection and sterilization. Let dry in a cool place for 2 to 3 hours. Then use "rooting agent" to water 1000 to 1500 times (pay attention to the ratio in the instructions). Soak the roots for 2 to 5 hours.

The soil for planting hillside piles is mainly plain soil, directly using freshwater river sand, or adding one-fifth of the pastoral soil to the river sand. River sand is clean and sterile, can filter water quickly, has strong air permeability, and has a large temperature difference between day and night, which is conducive to inducing root systems. After planting the hill pile, immediately apply wound healing agent on the main part of the wound larger than 1 cm and wrap it with aluminum foil. Use a plastic bag to tie your mouth so that it won't be exposed to rain or direct exposure to the sun.

After planting, the hillside piles should be maintained in a cool and ventilated location for 10 to 15 days. According to the growth of new shoots after germination, when the second leaf opens, the light can be appropriately increased and maintained to a position with astigmatism to increase photosynthesis. The soil of downhill piles should not be kept wet for a long time, and the water should be "watered thoroughly if it is not dry or watered". During this period, you can also use spray to moisturize the branches.
