Shilin is located in Shilin County and belongs to Kunming City. A very important ethnic minority is called Yi nationality, who lives in the county seat 89 kilometers away from downtown Kunming. We are going to drive through Chenggong County & Yiliang County. Now, we are on our way to Shilin, which takes 90 minutes.
Now, we arrive in Chenggong County. It is about17km away from Kunming city. This county is rich in flowers, fruits and vegetables. Vegetables Today, the flower production industry in this county is developing rapidly. It has the largest cut flower trading market in the eastern region & Southeast Asia.

Please look outside our bus. There are two railways. The nearest to us is the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, which starts in Kunming and ends in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is only 1 meter wide and 855 kilometers long, of which 465 kilometers are in Yunnan. The project started on 1903 and was completed on 19 10. After France occupied Vietnam, in order to monopolize Yunnan's rich minerals, the French government forced the Qin government to approve the construction of this road. During the construction period, about 300,000 China laborers were employed. Due to the poor living conditions and poor treatment of foreign supervisors, more than 60,000 people died in the construction process. It is said that it is one of the man-made wonders after Panama Canal and Suez Canal. The other railway parallel to this railway is the newly-built Nankun Railway. It is 1.435 meters wide (international standard) and 898 kilometers long, connecting Kunming and Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This is a completely electrified railway, which was opened to traffic in 19971February. This railway is the main passage to the sea in the southwest of China.

In fact, Shilin is a unique landform. In the field of international geology, this is called karst landform. Karst is a plateau similar to northwestern Slovenia and northeastern Italy, forming a typical karst landform. Karst landform refers to corrosion, deposition, collapse and accumulation of soluble rocks on the earth's surface after being dissolved by water.
Such a unique landform was formed. There are stone forests, stone peaks, stalagmites, funnels and underground rivers. The stone forest in Kunming is the best and most beautiful.
Walking into the entrance of the Stone Forest, we will be shocked by those lifelike stones, such as fresh lotus flowers, soldiers' swords, kissing birds, flying phoenixes and big mushrooms. One of the stones is the most famous. It is called Ashima. It looks like a Sani girl. She was highly praised in the fairy tales of Sani people. I want to sing a song about her here.
