Tianjin University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary university in Tianjin, focusing on engineering, combining work with study, and coordinating the development of engineering, science, management, literature and art. It is also a key university in the "Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers".

The school was founded in 1979, formerly known as Tianjin University of Technology. 1996 merged with the former Tianjin University Branch, Tianjin University Electromechanical Branch and Tianjin University Metallurgical Branch to form a new Tianjin Institute of Technology, which was renamed in 2004.
