Dislocated fracture healing causes functional impairment and apparent deformity of the limb, which is called fracture malunion. The main manifestations are:

1. Abnormal appearance: swelling and abnormal activities can be seen.

2. Stress: Mainly due to malunion such as fracture angulation and rotation, which changes the direction of action of related muscles. Severe shortening deformity can cause lameness.

3. Limited joint movement: The dislocated and protruding fracture end hinders the movement of adjacent joints. For example, a supracondylar fracture of the humerus affects elbow flexion. Radial malunion limits forearm rotation.

4. Movement disorders between joints: Many actions in daily life are completed simultaneously by the coordinated movement of multiple joints. If the tibial angle malformation heals, it can change the gravity-bearing line of the knee and ankle joints, affecting standing and walking.

If the malunion of the ribs does not affect respiratory movement, no special treatment is required. Unless the deformity is severe and affects the appearance or even causes physical deformity, surgical correction is usually required.
