Yichang, a prefecture-level city and provincial sub-central city in Hubei Province, is a regional central city in the central region and a member of the city agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River approved by the State Council. Located at the boundary between central China, southwestern Hubei, and the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River, it is known as the gateway to the Three Gorges and the throat of Sichuan and Hubei. Yichang was called Yiling in ancient times. It got its name from the fact that when the water reaches this point, it becomes Yiling, and when the mountains reach this point, it forms a mausoleum.
