The iron law of Bangkok traffic

1. Taxis don't distinguish between locals and outsiders. Refusing to take a taxi is a common phenomenon, and tourists often encounter situations where they can't hit the meter. So if you don't want to waste your mood, it's a better way to travel by using online car calling software.

Uber disappeared in Bangkok long ago, and now Grab (Didi of Thailand) dominates the world. Although there are taxi software like LineTa Xi 'an, it is not enough to compete with Garb.

3. Most tourists want to punch in the central area of Bangkok, so taking a taxi is definitely the most worry-free, but traffic jams can easily become the worst, so don't refuse other modes of transportation, such as trying motorcycles (only for timid and fat people).

4.BTS light rail and MRT do not belong to the same company, so it is impossible to have one ticket and one card. Moreover, the fares of BTS and MRT are not cheap. If several people travel together, it may be more cost-effective to take a taxi.

Bus is the cheapest means of transportation, but it is only suitable for deep tourists, and its convenience and comfort are not easy to master.

6.Tutuk-tuk is a "high-end" travel tool, suitable for tourists who are willing to spend money. Take the simplest example: take a taxi from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Siam Square, 300 baht. However, within 2 kilometers from Siam Square to the destination, the price of the tuk-tuk car is also 300 baht.

7. Be sure to take a boat once. Whether for sightseeing or as a means of transportation, you will find Bangkok from the waves, which is both spiritual and fresh.

Please carefully understand the above iron law, which will help you understand the specific practical guide. In order to make you feel more involved, we have designed several travel scenes. These scenes are what you will encounter when you travel freely in Bangkok. As long as you follow them and walk around Bangkok, it's easy and simple!

Airport to downtown

This is the first traffic problem that most people should consider before landing in Bangkok. There are two international airports in Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi International Airport and don mueang international airport. All flights from China land at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and there are three main modes of transportation from this airport to the city: taxi, airport express and internet car.

1. Taxi

The taxi stop at Vanknapp International Airport is located on the first floor of the terminal building. Before using the car, click on the car you want to take on the automatic number machine, and then take the printed receipt with the number to find the driver with the corresponding number.

It's easy to find a taxi stand along the airport sign. Although taxi drivers are more disciplined than before after continuous rectification, you can still emphasize: get on the bus by the meter. If a driver still insists on not playing the meter, just change the car, and don't be too serious. The airport will charge these drivers a management fee of 50 baht, which will eventually be borne by the passengers.

So when you arrive at your destination, the amount you have to pay = the number on the label.

Airport express timetable and route map, click on the picture to enlarge. The blue form is Monday to Friday, and the green form is Saturday, Sunday and public holidays; The leftmost number in the table is hour and the right is minute. For example, the earliest departure time is 6:02 am, and so on.

After re-integration, there is only one airport express line left, and there is no longer a red and blue line. One * * * eight stops, be clear at a glance.

Airport Express can transfer to MRT (A6Makksan Station) and BTS Light Rail (A8PhayaThai Station).

The speed of the airport express line is not bad, and the fare is friendly: it takes about 22 minutes to drive from airport station A 1 to A6 station, and the fare is 35 baht; It takes about 26 minutes from A 1 Station to A8 Station, and the fare is 45 baht.

3, the network car

The picture above is a schematic diagram of Grab taxi software. Please refer to the actual interface.

If you like to call your car with software like Didi, I suggest you download Grab first. The operation mode is the same as Didi. You can select a starting point and an ending point, and then select the vehicle type.

However, unlike Didi's practice of giving the fare range, Grab will directly display the specific amount (but not including the high-speed toll, which will be paid separately according to the actual situation), so there is no need to worry about being bypassed.

And Grab offers many models, from private cars to taxis, from economy to luxury (Porsche), from five seats to 10 seats (van), and there is always one for you (the budget determines the model).

It is worth noting that if you call a taxi through Grab, there will be an appointment fee (about 20 baht). This booking fee is charged by Grab, regardless of time and place. As long as you call a taxi through Grab, it's not for a ride.

Grab supports associated bank cards, Alipay, or direct cash payment to drivers.

Another form of online car rental is to buy car pick-up service on the travel platform in advance.

It is also a good way to help you avoid all kinds of troubles, without worrying about poor English or strangers. Someone will pick you up at the airport and put you on the bus.

At Suvarnabhumi International Airport, the people who pick up the plane are waiting at Gate 4 of the arrival hall, so you just need to find Gate 4, then find the sign marked with your own pinyin, and the rest is that someone will take you away.

Go to the shopping center

Atlas of Bangkok Rail Transit. Click on the picture to enlarge. Among them, emerald green is BTS Sukunyi line, and dark green is BTS long line.

Most shopping centers are located along the BTS light rail. In order to avoid the anxiety caused by traffic jams, it is more reliable to take BTS.

The full name of BTS is' Bangkok Public Transport System'. Because it is an elevated railway system, it is generally called an empty railway or sky train.

At present, BTS has two lines: dark green Silom line and emerald green Sukhumvit line.

BTS is the main artery of Bangkok and the eternal trunk line of the city, connecting one bustling commercial center after another in series, so not only tourists, but also locals regard BTS as the most convenient and quick choice for travel.

I suggest you find a hotel along the BTS, which is not only convenient to travel, but also has a high comprehensive convenience index.

BTS fares are charged by distance, and the farther you go, the more expensive it is. Ticket price 16 baht, jump to 22 baht at the second stop. If you don't take the extension line (newly opened during the year), it will be capped at 44 baht, which is much higher than the rail transit in major cities in China.

BTS also introduced counting cards and stored-value cards, collectively referred to as "rabbit cards". Both cards require a non-refundable card fee of 50 baht plus a refundable deposit of 50 baht, plus a certain advance payment before they can be used.

If you stay in Bangkok for less than a week, it is not recommended to buy, because the number of trains is fixed within 30 days, and there is no discount for using stored-value cards, unless you are too lazy to queue up to buy tickets or want to leave a card as a souvenir.

BTS also introduced a one-day ticket at the price of 140 baht. However, it should be noted that this card can be used unlimited times at 24 o'clock after the day of purchase and before the end of BTS, instead of within 24 hours after the purchase time.

Central Shopping Center, Siam Shopping Center, Terminal 2 1, EmQuartier, Chatucha Weekend Market, etc. Can be reached through BTS.

Finally, many BTS platforms have super-rich foreign currency exchange points, which makes it very convenient to exchange Thai baht.

Go to the night market

As shown in the picture, Ratchata Train Night Market is located at Exit 3 of the MRT Thailand Cultural Center Station. In addition, you can also see three transfer stations between MRT and BTS. Source: www.myflashngo.com.

Compared with BTS, MRT subway ride rate will be lower for tourists, but it will not be completely missed. If you want to go to Richata train night market, the hottest night market in China and Tik Tok, MRT is more convenient.

MRT (Mass Rapid Transit, Bangkok Metro) is an underground railway system in Bangkok. At present, there are two lines, the blue line and the purple line (not yet opened).

Many people think that MRT and BTS belong to the same company, but in fact, apart from three transfer stations, they are really two completely independent companies with their own transportation cards.

The MRT is not cheap either: from 16 baht, the second stop becomes 19 baht. The farther away, the higher the fare, but the price is always about 2 baht cheaper than BTS.

MRT also has other types of cards such as stored value cards, but it also involves issues such as deposits and card fees. There is no discount on stored-value cards, so tourists seldom use them. It is better to buy a one-way ticket every time.

Go to the grand palace

Bangkok mass transit center. Click on the picture to enlarge. If you are going to the Grand Palace, pay attention to the blue flag line and the orange flag line.

There are no BTS and MRT near the Grand Palace. Tourists can take a taxi or take a boat. In fact, as long as you are not in a hurry, it is not only leisurely to go to the Grand Palace by boat, but also to see Bangkok from another angle.

Bangkok was once known as Venice of the East, and its developed waterway transportation can be imagined. There are not many rivers for passenger ships to pass through now, and the Zhaopiye section from the public pier to the Grand Palace is the most familiar to tourists.

All ships going to the Grand Palace will stop or leave at the central pier, so you need to take BTS to SaphanTaksin at S6 station first, and then you can see Gongx pier after two stops.

In addition to passenger ships, free shuttle buses from major hotels, Iconsiam Shopping Center and AsiatiqueRiverside Night Market will also stop here.

Ships passing through here are divided into blue flag, orange flag, yellow flag, green flag and gray flag (no flag), but don't feel complicated. In fact, take the blue flag and the orange flag boat for example.

Especially the blue flag, because the unit price is high (50 baht for a single ticket and 0/50 baht for a one-day ticket), the staff take the initiative to solicit customers, which is simply afraid that you can't find a ticket office; The orange flag is a one-way fare, as long as 15 baht.

Whether it's the blue flag or the orange flag, just remember to get off at N9 station. If you want to go to the reclining Buddha Temple, get off at N8 station and take the mountain road at N 13 station.

So far, through the above four scenes, you have learned about the most common means of transportation that tourists encounter in Bangkok. Of course, if you like a deeper localization experience, want to explore a wider Bangkok and walk into a lower-key alley, there are several modes of transportation that you can try.

1. bus * * *

This is definitely one of the factors to test whether the trip is deep enough, because don't expect the conductor on the bus to speak English to you, and don't expect to understand all the station names marked in Thai.

If you have the courage to sit, you must have the courage to face the problem of standing or getting off early.

Buses in Bangkok are also divided into ordinary and air-conditioned. An ordinary bus is much like an antique car that is forced to continue driving without scrapping. First use the electric fan 10 baht. The conditions of shunting cars are much better. 16 baht, the farther away, the more expensive.

Generally, buses don't ask you where to get off, and not all stops. So I suggest you open Google Maps and always pay attention to how far the destination is. When you approach, press the pager to remind the driver to pull over.

The air-conditioning conductor will ask where to get off, and when he doesn't understand, he can show the other party Google Maps.

2. Motorcycles

Knights in yellow vests are common on the streets of Bangkok. They are professional licensed motorcycle drivers, similar to taxi drivers.

Here, I want to mention Grab first, because since you can ask for riding a motorcycle on Grab, it is much less difficult for tourists to ride a motorcycle.

Just like the steps of booking other models, you can call a taxi after you determine the place to get on and off. The price is very expensive.

If you want to communicate with local people, you can communicate with motorcyclists wearing yellow vests on the street. They are all motorcyclists who specialize in picking up guests, and they don't speak much English.
