Introduction to Z-plasty

The "Z"plasty is a surgical technique that repositions scar tissue so that it is parallel to or overlapping the natural texture and folds of the skin, making it less noticeable and less visible. It can reduce the problem of excessive skin tension caused by scar contracture. "Z"plasty is usually performed under local anesthesia in an outpatient clinic. The sutures are removed about 1 week after the operation. The suture scars will not be obvious, but they cannot be eliminated. Of course, not all scars are suitable for this kind of surgery, and it needs to be judged by an experienced plastic surgeon whether it is necessary.
