Legal analysis: 38 degrees north latitude was originally a natural geographical line. Although this invisible line, which is about 300 kilometers long in North Korea, divides the Korean peninsula into two parts with roughly the same area, it has no military, political or economic significance in itself. After the end of the Korean War, the north-south military demarcation line was adjusted on the basis of the 38th parallel, and two kilometers on each side of the temporary military demarcation line were designated as demilitarized zones. It is still customarily called the 38th parallel.
Legal basis: Article 2 of the National Security Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) refers to the ability of state power, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, people's well-being, sustainable economic and social development and other major national interests to be relatively free from dangers and internal and external threats, and to ensure a continuous state of security.
