1, pruning the tree
Pruning is very necessary in the infancy of apricot trees. When the trunk is as high as 40 ~ 50 cm, there can be three main branches at the base. Then after each main branch branches into 4-6 secondary main branches, there is no need to branch. By keeping this tree shape, you can cut off more branches and side branches.
Step 2 cut off branches
When apricot trees are reshaped every year, the extension branches of the main lateral branches should be shortened, and the degree of shortening depends on the strength of the branches. Cut the stronger branches lightly, and then cut the weaker branches. The short cut length is about 1/3 ~ 2/5 of the branch, and young trees should not be overweight when pruning.
3. Shortcuts promote fruit
In the early pregnancy of apricot fruit, some elongated branches should be properly pruned and cut off to promote the plants to grow new branches and buds and produce fruit branches. Be sure to cut it short in time.
Step 4 prune the fruit branches
Although fruit branches can bear fruit effectively, if they are allowed to grow at will, the tree shape will be disrupted, and even the backbone branches will form a competitive trend, which is not conducive to the overall development of apricot trees. Therefore, it is necessary to change the extension direction of fruit branches through reasonable pruning.
5. In vain.
In the process of apricot growth, there will be overgrown weeds and flourishing leaves. If the overgrown branches are useful, they should be picked and topped in time. If it is useless trailing branches, it can be pruned directly.
Step 6 Shrink and cut short
Apricot trees should be pruned again in winter, that is, the annual and perennial main branches should be shortened. Except for a few important main branches, other redundant branches and side branches can be pruned.
