How and when to prune small cherry trees?
First, the pruning time

Young cherry trees should be pruned properly during maintenance, and the pruning time is generally from late February to mid-March in spring. Spring is coming, and the temperature is rising gradually, just before germination. At this time, pruning did little harm to the trees, just sprouted after pruning and ushered in vigorous growth. You can trim the rest of the time, but you can't cut it again, otherwise it will be difficult to recover.

Second, the pruning method

1, coring: Young cherry trees should do a good job of coring, select the main branches, core the branches that grow too high, and cut off the branches that grow too long, which can promote the growth of lateral branches, inhibit the vigorous growth, increase the number of lateral branches and promote shaping.

2. bifurcation: after the nuclear removal work is completed, the branches of the big cherry tree should be pulled out. The opening angle of the main branches is 60-70 degrees, and the opening angle of the side branches is about 70-80 degrees, so that the branches grow horizontally or droop. Be careful to pull them into a line, don't bow. Branching should be coordinated with coring. The main branches should be moderately cored every 60 cm, and the side branches should be slightly cored every 20 cm.

3. Bud carving: Pay attention to the bud carving of young cherry trees after being cut short, choose full buds in different directions, and carve deep wounds on the buds to promote germination and branching.
