What kind of experience is tooth extraction? Recently, I pulled out a crooked wisdom tooth, and I would like to share it here, because I also read the experience of other friends before pulling out and found it very useful. I hope my experience can also help others.
1. Do you want to pull it out or not?
Whether wisdom teeth should be pulled out depends mainly on the long condition, such as whether there is impaction or tooth decay. My wisdom teeth are impacted teeth, which means they are crooked. I have grown up for ten years and have not been corrupted. Except for the first time, it hurt for a while, and then it didn't hurt, so it didn't move. Recently, I decided to get rid of it on a whim. After all, crooked wisdom teeth can easily lead to problems with front teeth. Of course, the easiest way to pull it out is to ask the doctor.
Don't fight an unprepared battle
As the saying goes, don't fight unprepared. I have been very anxious since I decided to have my tooth pulled out, and I need to do some psychological construction.
People are often afraid because they don't understand, so in the first step, I first learned the process of tooth extraction. I took the classics from my colleagues who had extracted teeth, read the articles written by dentists on WeChat official account, and went to Zhihu to see other people's experience sharing, so I got a basic understanding of the whole process of tooth extraction.
The psychological construction in the early stage is done, so don't hesitate to act quickly. Which hospital should I go to? The most famous dentistry in Shanghai is the Ninth Hospital, but being famous also means that there are many people. It takes two weeks to get the number online, and it is said that Jiuyuan will have to wait several months for tooth extraction. I really don't want to wait so long.
In fact, the top three hospitals and dental clinics are good choices. In order to make this urgent matter pass quickly, I decided to go to the nearest top three hospital: Sixth Hospital. As it turns out, the dentistry of the Sixth Hospital is also great!
3. First visit: take photos, have blood tests and make an appointment.
Make an appointment in the Sixth Hospital and make an appointment in the micro-medicine immediately, which can save a lot of queuing time. On the afternoon of June 5, I came to the stomatology department of the Sixth Hospital as promised. The first time I entered the initial consulting room, there were only two doctors inside. After the doctor checked, he made a list and immediately took an X-ray in the next room. The purpose of filming is to see clearly the growth of teeth and judge the difficulty of tooth extraction.
X-rays are simply printed on the back of a prescription, and my teeth are exposed. I was a little surprised when I saw them, but more curious. So my teeth look like this.
The film clearly shows that my wisdom tooth at the lower right is crooked, lying big and arrogant, leaning against the front big tooth.
The first female doctor handed me over to the male doctor next to me, and he made an appointment for my tooth extraction. I thought it would take a month or two, but I didn't expect it to be pulled out in 20 days. Girls should pay attention to avoid the physiological period and calculate the date. I had a good meal that day, and the doctor said that if I didn't eat it, I couldn't stand anesthesia.
I asked the doctor, is my tooth difficult to pull out? The doctor replied, "Not the hardest". My heart is cold, which means it is still difficult. Then he asked, "Do you need an expert to pull it out?" The doctor said calmly, "I'll pull it out for you." I don't have the courage to ask him if he is an expert. Fortunately, the doctor's voice is very nice and his speech is very gentle, which is a little comfort.
Then the doctor wrote a blood test sheet and tested a bunch of blood-borne diseases, and asked me to take the test results with me when I pulled my tooth next time. After the last blood draw, the first diagnosis is over.
4. Second visit: leaving
During the 20 days of waiting, I continued to maintain a vague sense of anxiety, so that I kept saying "I'm going to have my tooth extracted" all day, and my colleagues were probably tired of listening. Two days before my tooth was pulled out, I had a headache. Fortunately, I also study psychology. I believe it is all anxiety caused by fear of tooth extraction. Leave it alone. Facts have proved that it really doesn't hurt after pulling out the tooth head.
Finally, on June 25, the day of tooth extraction, in order to alleviate my anxiety, my husband took a half-day leave to accompany me to the hospital, but he could only sit outside during the whole tooth extraction process.
This time, it was the next big consulting room, No.6 consulting room, and it was the last male doctor. He was wearing a mask, and I recognized him from his voice. Well, it's that wonderful voice.
On the operating table, oh, that's a recliner. The doctor gave me an anesthetic first to remind me of a little pain. I feel fine, and I haven't had the pain of drawing blood and pricking needles. Shortly after the anesthetic, I never felt any pain again.
Then, the doctor said, "I want to sharpen it", so I pounded it in my mouth for a while. During the period, I suddenly felt that I couldn't swallow saliva, and I made a disgusting action involuntarily, interrupting the doctor's operation. I only heard from the doctor that something was broken, so I was in trouble and didn't hear it clearly. The doctor was patient, reminding me to breathe through my nose and take my tongue away while continuing the operation. I just feel that there is a huge force acting on my teeth, pressing down hard and prying it out.
I guess it's not loose. The doctor called another female doctor: "Come and knock for me". He didn't forget to warn me: "I'm going to give you a knock, which will be a little shocking", and then I felt the bones of my whole face shaking. Although I didn't see it, I imagined that he took a small hammer with a small stick under it and knocked it hard.
After a few knocks, the doctor asked me how I felt. I touched the other side of the mandible and said it hurts here. By the way, you can talk when you pull out your teeth. The doctor touched the place I pointed kindly, as if to fix my face.
After knocking for a while, my tooth finally loosened and the doctor pulled it out hard. Finally, I heard the doctor say, "Let me give you two stitches." I didn't know that I had to have a stitch after pulling out my tooth. Finally, the doctor put gauze on my wound and let me bite.
At this point, the tooth extraction is completed. The journey takes about thirty minutes.
5. One week after tooth extraction
After pulling out my teeth, I asked the doctor many questions, and the doctor answered them patiently. Finally, I was prescribed cephalosporin for a week, taking painkillers if it hurts too much, and two bottles of mouthwash made by the Sixth Hospital. The doctor told me to bite the gauze for an hour, not to vomit and not to suck the wound. After two hours, you can eat, eat soft food, ice compress, brush your teeth after 24 hours, and take out stitches after one week.
As for my own feelings, well, it is like this. When I first pulled out my tooth, I just felt numb and could speak, but it sounded strange. In the next 1-2 hours, the anesthetic gradually subsided, and I felt a pain and numbness. Finally, the anesthetic was gone, leaving only pain.
At home, I leaned back on the sofa, put an ice pack on my face, tried not to move my tongue, and swallowed all the saliva and blood in my mouth. These hours may be the most uncomfortable stage in the whole tooth extraction process, but overall, the pain is tolerable and no painkillers are taken. The wound looked red, but it soon stopped bleeding.
After about four hours, I think it's time to eat something. I cooked a bowl of porridge and found that I couldn't eat it, mainly because my mouth hurt. No choice but to make a bowl of sesame paste and then drink a glass of milk, which is a dinner.
When I went to work the next day, my tooth extraction still hurt, but it was not so serious. I had a bowl of porridge for lunch. But I started to have a fever the next afternoon, and the highest temperature reached 37.8℃ at night. I did nothing but take medicine on time and ice for a while at night. I brushed my teeth gently the next night.
On the third day, I miraculously stopped having a fever, and began to eat some noodles and soft dishes, but I had to chew on the side that I didn't take out, and I had to eat slowly. After a few days, although there is still some dull pain, it has little impact on life. As for the face, it was a little swollen a few days ago, but it was not obvious. There seems to be no face-lifting effect.
6. Third visit: stitches removed
A week later, I came to the Sixth Hospital again, this time to take out stitches in the small room of the initial consultation room. I sat on the sofa, and the doctor scratched my mouth with a small tool for less than ten seconds, with only a slight feeling. While I was waiting for further surgery with my eyes closed, I only heard the doctor say, tear it down and come down quickly. The result is over. The doctor said the wound grew well.
It's been four days since the thread was removed. Except for some strange feelings, it's basically normal, except that there is a hole where the tooth is extracted, and the food is easy to fall in. Try to eat on the other side for the time being.
summary
In the final analysis, tooth extraction is nothing to be afraid of. Hold back your inner anxiety before pulling out, follow the doctor's advice after pulling out, and endure the pain for a few days, and you will be fine. Of course, everyone's situation is different, and the difficulty of tooth extraction is different. The most important thing is to trust the doctor.
Finally, I confess that the doctor in the Sixth Hospital is patient and gentle, and his voice is really nice. Unfortunately, I don't know his name.
