Although colorful angelfish is called "angelfish", it is far from angelfish in genetic relationship. In biological classification, it belongs to the general name of fish such as animal kingdom, amphipoda, bone item, Perciformes, Cicadellidae, Pelican, Pelican and so on. It originated in the Amazon river basin of South America and is now widely cultivated as an ornamental fish all over the world.
Morphological characteristics:
The colorful angelfish is about 15 ~ 20cm long, nearly disc-shaped and flat on the side. Rainbow-like red and blue stripes wrap around the whole body, and the dorsal fin and ventral fin are particularly developed. The pattern on the body can extend all the way to the fin. The tail is fan-shaped, colorless and transparent, and the body color is rich and changeable. Common ones are red, brown and blue, and the colors are red, yellow, blue, green and blue.
Distribution range:
Colorful angelfish is native to the Amazon River basin in South America, including Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and other places. As an ornamental fish, it has been widely introduced around the world and is known as the "king of tropical fish", but it is rare in the country of origin.
Living habits:
1. environment: angelfish is a representative species of tropical fish, with the optimum living water temperature of 25~30℃, hardness of 3~6 and pH of 5.0 ~ 6.5. Although gentle, it is best to raise it alone.
2. Feeding habits: The colorful angelfish is an omnivorous fish, which mainly feeds on plankton, aquatic insects and higher plant debris. When artificially raised, it can be fed with red worms, water fleas and compound pellet feed.
3. Reproduction: The colorful angelfish matures sexually in10 ~1February. Eggs are laid on the surface of rocks or branches, and the number of eggs laid is 100~200. Parent fish have the habit of incubating eggs, and fertilized eggs can hatch into fry in 2~3 days.
Male and female identification:
1, body type: colorful angelfish male fish is larger, female fish is smaller and rounder.
2, forehead: the forehead of the male fish is more prominent, on the contrary, the forehead of the female fish is smoother.
3. Color: In this respect, wild species are more obvious, the male fish is darker and the female fish is brighter.
4. Dorsal fin end: the dorsal fin end of the male fish is pointed, and the dorsal fin end of the female fish is round; Male fish will have more dorsal fin ends.
5, pattern: if it extends all the way to the top of the dorsal fin, there is no interruption in the middle, then most of them are male fish, on the contrary, there are female fish in the middle.
Feeding mode:
1, water temperature. The favorite water temperature of colorful angelfish is 28-30 degrees, and it is best for breeders to keep the temperature at 29 degrees, which can enhance appetite and activity.
2. Water quality. Colorful angelfish like weakly acidic water, and the PH value needs to be controlled between 6.2 and 6.8, so that they can live more comfortably. If the water is alkaline, they will easily feel uncomfortable and sick.
Step 3 feed. Colorful angelfish like to eat some animal offal, such as beef heart and chicken heart, and also like to eat some bumper shrimp, red worms or homemade hamburgers.
Precautions:
1, providing enough space. Colorful angelfish can grow up to 15.20 cm in length, so you should use a slightly larger fish tank when raising young fish, so as not to compete for territory.
2. Scientific feeding. Colorful angelfish like to eat some live bait, but breeders need reasonable food to feed them. Breeders can follow the principle of eating less and eating more meals, and feed them 2-4 times a day. If there is food residue after feeding, it needs to be removed immediately to avoid polluting the water quality.
3. Change the water in time. Colorful angelfish need to change water 2-3 times a week, and the amount of water changed each time is about a quarter.
