How to plant maple trees? Maple planting method
1. Land selection and soil preparation: Maple should choose wasteland or sloping farmland with deep soil layer, fertile soil layer and good drainage; For gentle slopes, zonal soil preparation should be adopted; For woodland with thin soil layer and steep slope, hole soil preparation should be adopted; Afforestation in spring, soil preparation should be done in March and afforestation in autumn, preferably in July and August.

2. Afforestation density: Maple seedlings should be 2-year-old seedlings with developed rooting system or 4-5-year-old grafted seedlings. Due to the well-developed lateral branches and poor trunk shape of maple, the planting density should not be too thin, generally around 333 plants/mu.

3. Timely planting: Maple trees can be planted in early spring or late autumn and early winter, preferably in spring. Before planting, cut off the broken roots, injured roots and excessively long roots, and plant according to the requirements of "three burying, two steps and one seedling raising". After planting, root water can be poured where conditions permit.

4. Loosening soil and weeding: Loosening soil and weeding twice a year in the young maple forest period, the first time 1 time is in late April, and the second time is in early August. Combining weeding and loosing soil, tree holes are enlarged from planting holes to promote root growth.

5. Fertilization management: young maple trees are topdressing effective nitrogen fertilizer for 2-3 times from early May to early August, supplemented by phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, topdressing winter fertilizer mainly composed of organic fertilizer combined with deep ploughing and soil improvement in late September, topdressing base fertilizer in dormant period and topdressing soil in growing period.

6. Plastic pruning: Maple trees are pruned in winter from late autumn to the next spring, preferably in early spring. Methods include cutting short, thinning branches, retracting, leveling stubble, etc. Pruning in summer is carried out from germination to defoliation in autumn, and the methods include sprouting, removing sprouting, coring, taking branches and pulling branches.

7. Pest control: Common diseases of maple include brown spot and powdery mildew. When the disease occurs, spray with 50% carbendazim wettable powder 800- 1000 times. Insect pests mainly include yellow thorn moth and Anoplophora glabripennis, which can be controlled by spraying drugs and putting poison bait.
