What is oeko-tex 100 certification?
OEKO-TEX standard 100 was formulated by OEKO-TEX International Environmental Protection Textile Association in 1992. At present, there are 16 testing associations whose main task is to detect harmful substances in textiles to determine their safety.

Most textiles and fabrics have no real harm to human beings. However, people still want to buy fabrics, bedding, diapers, sanitary napkins and home textiles that have been tested to ensure that they are not contaminated by any harmful substances. This does not mean that textiles have not been chemically treated.

The European Textile Research Association has accumulated many years of working experience, with a view to reaching a standard for measuring the ecological quality of textiles through objective and scientific argumentation. Oeko-Tex standard 100 stipulates the limit of harmful substances in yarns, fibers and various textiles according to the latest scientific knowledge.

Only manufacturers who provide provable quality assurance according to strict inspection and inspection procedures are allowed to use Oeko-Tex labels on their products.

International Textile Ecological Research and Testing Association guarantees that Oeko-Tex standard 100 keeps its promise: trust textiles.

Certification process and control test

In order to obtain Oeko-Tex certified textile or leather products, manufacturers must provide samples of all parts (including buttons, zippers, rivets, sewing threads, labels or prints) to the laboratory of one of Oeko-Tex members for analysis and research.

The Oeko-Tex certificate was issued after the materials were successfully tested to meet the Oeko-Tex standard and a declaration of conformity was signed.

Part of the certification process is also a company audit in the production facilities of the certification project, which is conducted before or shortly after the certificate is issued. Thereafter, the audit shall be conducted at least once every three years.

In order to verify the continuous compliance with the required limits, Oeko-Tex Association conducts annual inspection on at least 25% of all published standards 100 and leather standard certificates. These inspections include surprise visits and laboratory tests of labeled product samples obtained from shops and production sites. The Oeko-Tex website provides the latest information about certificate revocation.

In order to ensure continuous compliance with the requirements of the STeP certificate, Oeko-Tex made a surprise on-site inspection of the production facilities.
