Since the 47th World Table Tennis Championships in Paris in 2003, two team competitions and five individual competitions have been held respectively. Only five individual events in the World Table Tennis Championships are held in odd years, and two team events are held in even years. Due to the serious epidemic of COVID-19 in South Korea at that time, the team World Table Tennis Championships scheduled to be held in South Korea last year were cancelled. However, there were only five events in the World Table Tennis Championships held in Houston, USA 1 1 month this year.
There are five events in the first World Table Tennis Championships: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and men's team events. Women's doubles competition was added in the second World Table Tennis Championships, and women's team competition was added in the eighth World Table Tennis Championships. There are 7 events. Before the reform in 2003/2004, seven events of each competition were held together. At that time, individual events were held in odd years and team events were held in even years, but they were collectively called one session. So there is a team competition in the World Table Tennis Championships.
