I recommend two books to you, one is Liu Ruipu from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and the other is Zhang Wenbin from Donghua University. I feel Liu Ruipu's Principles and Applications of Clothing Pattern Design. Women's Knitting (with Disc) is quite good. It is a textbook that I often recommend to students. It is very thick, but if you can read it carefully, I believe you will have a deep understanding of making patterns.
Of course, it takes practice to make patterns, that is, you have to cut out cloth according to the patterns and sew it into clothes. Because the pattern we make is flat, but the human body is not flat, we can only see the state of the clothes we make on our bodies. We call it the transformation from two-dimensional to three-dimensional. When clothes are worn on people, you will find that some parts don't fit and need to be modified. Practice repeatedly, and your pattern will get better and better.
Clothing pattern is not a profound subject, but it needs constant practice and practice. Simply reading books or using software is not enough, because you must understand the transformation process from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, that is, cutting out cloth according to your pattern and sewing it into clothes.
Finally, let me talk about software. When you can make patterns by hand, you can learn to use software to make patterns, that is, clothing CAD. CAD is computer-aided design, that is, computer-aided design. As can be seen from the name, it is an auxiliary method, that is to say, if you can't draw, it is useless to use software. It is an auxiliary tool. In addition, many drawings drawn by CAD software can't be printed, so it is necessary to purchase additional printout equipment, which is usually expensive, so it needs to be drawn by hand.
There are many kinds of CAD software, such as Fuyi, Zhizun Bao Fang, Pat, arisa and gerber. I often make an analogy with students, just like our chat tools are QQ, Taobao Want Want and MSN. Their functions are almost the same, they are all making patterns, but the interfaces and methods of different software are a little different.
