Silkworm flower

Qingming's "Rolling Silkworm Flowers" is a happy festival in Yuhang Silkworm Town, praying for the prosperity of sericulture. Located in Linping and Tangqi, centered on Chaoshan, a scenic spot in Xun Mei. On this day, men, women and children wear small flowers made of red paper or silk, which are called "silkworm flowers". Women put them in their temples or hair, and men put them on the brim of their hats. They flocked to Chaoshan to "roll silkworm flowers". There is a local saying that "the silkworm comes back to the door when it breaks through the mountain." On this day, businessmen, artists, food sellers, people who burn incense and worship Buddha, etc., all gathered on this mountain. There are many people on the mountain and below. At the foot of the mountain, boats collide, temples and monasteries are filled with cigarettes, bells are ringing, men and women are frolicking, squeezing and pushing, and they are unscrupulous. The girl's buttons were torn off, her clothes were messy, her hair was loose, and the silkworm baby was picked. Instead of blaming them, her parents were very happy, saying that this year's silkworms became very rich.

Dragon Boat Racing

Dragon boat race is an important folk activity in front of Zang Qian and Xianlin. It originated from the legend that Jinhua Laolong's life-saving spirit was cut off more than 300 years ago in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. In order to thank this life-saving old dragon, people have formed the custom of offering sacrifices to the dragon head and racing the dragon boat. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month (dragon boat rowing on the Tang Yuhang River in front of Zangqian is called the Dragon Boat Festival) and on the 13th of May (dragon boat rowing at Xianlin and Qiaotou is called the Dragon Boat Festival), the dragon boats in every village in this area get together to hold the Dragon Boat Festival. At that time, there will be a dragon boat race in the river, with tens of thousands of people on both sides of the strait watching, colorful flags flying and gongs and drums ringing, which can be called a major event in the water town. After the dragon boat race, a ceremony of "thanking the Dragon King" will be held, and the dragon head collection will be removed from the table of the Eight Immortals, and then collected after worshipping the dragon head for next year's competition.

Eat salty tea

Eating salty tea, a unique way of drinking tea, is quite interesting and has been circulating in Tangqi, Dong Tang and Zhangshan for a long time. Salted tea is brewed with a small amount of tea leaves and a variety of seasonings (mainly orange peel, baked green beans and wild sesame seeds). It has a fragrant smell and a delicious and salty taste. According to local customs, eating salty tea is not only retained in the folk etiquette of marriage and childbirth, but also popular in the silkworm township in Tangqi area. At the same time, eating salty tea is also a folk activity for people (especially women) to make friends and relax in their daily lives, which is called "tea party". Generally, housewives or girls in the village run brewing. Usually in the village, we go to our neighbor's house for tea three or five times a year. Make an appointment in advance and wait for the guests to sit down before boiling water, brewing and serving tea. Everyone drank tea carefully, chatted and laughed while drinking tea, and some even sang folk songs and hummed a little song, which was lively for two or three hours at a time. After many times of brewing, the salty taste of salty tea gradually faded, and the village women picked up the baked green beans one by one with their hair pins and put them in their mouths. After eating the seasoning of salty tea in the cup, everyone got up and the "tea party" was over.

Shuilonghui

The 20th day of the fifth lunar month is a festival for fire fighting and water dragon drills in Yuhang Town, which is called "Water Dragon Meeting" and also called "Dragon Divides the Sun". At dawn, the fire hoses in Yuhang Town block burned incense and inserted candles, and held the Dragon Boat Festival ceremony. Volunteer firefighters wear bronze helmets or rattan helmets, white shirts, black pants, barefoot sandals and blue belts around their waists. They held oil lamps in front of them, carried red hoses in the middle, and dozens of buckets behind them, singing and ringing bells, and ran to the southwest lake of CCID City. More than a dozen dragons are arranged on the dike pond, pumping water from the South Lake and spraying it into the sky to see whose head is high, whose range is long and whose duration is long, so as to determine the pros and cons. The winner is dragon skin red, and the others wear flowers for a week. Crowds of onlookers crowded the dams and ponds on both sides of the river. All walks of life in the town paid for steaming white steamed bread with large pieces of braised pork (commonly known as "broken pig head") and sent it to the levee to comfort the contestants. In the evening, hold a dinner party to celebrate.
