It is recommended to turn off other constant light sources for flashing.

As for the redness, it may be that you are too close to the corner of the auxiliary shooting light or turn on the red-eye prevention.

Try to turn off the red eye where there is macro, and set the shutter to 1/250 (pan/tilt required) 1/500 (hold it down but be steady).
