Xin Qingshan is known as "the father of short track speed skating in China". Since he became a coach in 1980s, he has trained many world champions of short track speed skating such as Li Yan, Yang Yang, Li Jiajun and Wang Meng. Under his leadership, the Chinese short track speed skating team changed from weak to strong.

1985 The short track speed skating national training team was established for the first time. This team is led by Xin Qingshan of Jilin Province. The initial training was very hard, lacking equipment and backward equipment. While learning from foreign experience, Xin Qingshan explored training methods suitable for China athletes.

After several years of hard work, the Chinese short track speed skating team began to emerge in the international arena. 1987, Li set the first world record of short track speed skating for China in the women's 3000m event; 1989, Guo Hongru won the first short track speed skating world champion in China.

Xin Qingshan, 1960, from baishan city, Jilin. He is a speed skater and won the national championship. However, a car accident caused a comminuted fracture of his right leg, ending his competitive career. Xin Qingshan said that his injury made him mistakenly contact with short track speed skating, became the first batch of coaches in China, and also brought out the world champion and the Winter Olympics champion.

Xin Qingshan has always said that without the cultivation and support of the state, it is impossible to have his current achievements. 1978 Representing the country in the World Youth Speed Skating Championships. Although his achievements were not satisfactory, he competed with five gold medalists in the Winter Olympics and broadened his horizons.

In the early 1980s, short track speed skating was introduced from Japan, and 23-year-old Xin Qingshan became one of the earliest coaches in China. From the understanding of the project to the selection of materials, to the methods and means of training, there is no experience to learn from.
