First, the picture book content
In the moonlight, a small egg is lying on a leaf, and the moon shines gently on it.
On Sunday morning, the warm sun rose. Bang, a hungry little caterpillar crawled out of the egg.
The little caterpillar feels so hungry. It wants to find something to eat.
On Monday, it ate an apple, but it was still hungry.
On Tuesday, it ate two pears, but it was still hungry.
On Wednesday, it ate three plums, but it was still hungry.
On Thursday, it ate four strawberries, but it was still hungry.
On Friday, it ate five oranges, but it was still hungry.
On Saturday, it ate a chocolate cake, an ice cream cone, a pickled cucumber, a piece of cheese, a ham, a lollipop, a cherry pie, a sausage, a cupcake and a piece of watermelon.
That night, the caterpillar's stomach was very painful.
The next day, it was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate a bright green leaf and felt much more comfortable.
Now, the caterpillar does not feel hungry. He is no longer a little caterpillar. He is a fat and big caterpillar.
It built a small house called cocoon and wrapped itself in it.
It lived in it for more than two weeks. Finally, it bit a hole in the cocoon and came out. ......
Ah! The caterpillar turned into a beautiful butterfly.
Second, parent-child reading
Me: The caterpillar crawled out of the egg. What is he going to do?
Child: He is going to find food. The caterpillar is hungry.
Me: How many apples did the caterpillar eat on Monday?
Child: The caterpillar ate an apple.
Me: How many pears did the caterpillar eat on Tuesday?
Child: I ate two pears. (The child sticks up two fingers when he speaks. )
Me: What did the caterpillar eat on Tuesday?
Child: Eat three plums. (The child says, while putting up three fingers. )
Me: What did the caterpillar eat on Saturday?
Child: I ate cucumbers, watermelons, lollipops, chocolate cakes, ice cream and so on.
Me: What has the caterpillar become?
Child: Butterfly.
Third, reading comprehension.
The author of The Hungry Caterpillar tells the story of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly in an interesting tone. Picture books are rich in colors, concise in pictures and beautiful in language. Children learn numbers and their ordering, some common nouns with quantifiers, expressions from Monday to Sunday, and the growth process of caterpillars.
After reading this book with my children in the evening, I lay in bed and recalled some contents of this book with my children. What did the caterpillar eat? What kind of food do you have? What did the caterpillar finally become? The child answered my question himself. This quiet and warm moment is a simple and happy happiness.
