What is the difference between silk screen printing and thermal transfer printing?
The main differences are different in nature, principle and characteristics, as follows:

First, the nature is different.

1, screen printing

Screen printing is short for "screen printing". Silk fabric, synthetic fiber fabric or metal screen is stretched on the screen frame, and the screen printing plate is made of hand-carved paint film or photochemical plate making. Modern screen printing technology is to make a screen printing plate by photographic plate making with photosensitive materials (making the screen holes in the graphic part of the screen printing plate as through holes, but not blocking the screen holes in the graphic part).

2. Thermal transfer printing

Thermal transfer printing is a new method of printing patterns on various materials, especially suitable for making a small number of personalized and customized goods and printing patterns containing full-color images or photos. The printing mode of this process is divided into two parts: transfer film printing and transfer processing. The transfer film is printed by dot printing (resolution up to 300dpi), and the pattern is printed on the surface of the film in advance. The printed pattern is rich in layers, colorful, ever-changing, with small color difference and good reproducibility, which can meet the requirements of designers and is suitable for mass production.

Second, the principle is different.

1, screen printing

The basic principle of screen printing is to use the basic principle that the mesh of graphic part of screen printing plate is permeable to ink and the mesh of non-graphic part is not permeable to ink. When printing, the ink is poured into one end of the screen printing plate, and the ink part of the screen printing plate is pressed with a scraper, while moving to the other end of the screen printing plate. During the movement, the scraper squeezes the ink from the grid of the graphic part onto the substrate.

2. Thermal transfer printing

The principle is that the digital pattern is printed on the transfer paper with special transfer ink through the printer, and then the pattern is accurately transferred to the surface of the product with a special transfer machine at high temperature and high pressure, thus completing the printing of the product.

Third, the characteristics are different.

1, screen printing

① Various types of inks can be used for screen printing. Namely: oily, water-based, synthetic resin emulsion, powder and other inks.

2. The layout is soft. Screen printing is soft and elastic, which is not only suitable for printing on soft objects such as paper and cloth, but also suitable for printing on hard objects such as glass and ceramics.

(3) The screen printing impression force is small. Because the pressure used in printing is small, it is also suitable for printing on fragile objects.

④ Thick ink layer and strong coverage.

⑤ Not limited by the surface shape and area of the substrate.

2. Thermal transfer printing

Advantages:

(1), simple printing. There is no need for plate-making, plate-making printing and repeated color matching, and there is no need for various tools and materials needed for screen printing and thermal transfer. To use a general printer, you only need to prepare an ordinary computer. The machine operator can perform the printing operation completely independently.

(2), can be printed on inorganic matter, can also be printed on complex and changeable organic matter. More and better compatibility with materials, avoiding the problem of selecting materials for screen printing and water transfer printing, and avoiding the damage of thermal transfer printing to organic materials such as leather, cloth and cotton.

(3), accurate positioning. The area and position to be printed can be aligned very accurately, and the problem of position deviation encountered in manual printing is avoided. Because it is a one-time multi-color printing, there will be no problem of color registration. These advantages can also be combined with engraving and etching very effectively, such as printing beautiful pictures in the engraved area or precise etching after printing. , in the carving industry can also have a good breakthrough.

④ Multiple printing. Thermal transfer can be divided into plane transfer and curved transfer. Plane transfer can only transfer flat things, while curved surface transfer has achieved a breakthrough in transfer, and any object can be printed.
