What is GRS certification?
Global recycling standard (GRS) was first formulated by CU in 2008, and its ownership was transferred to textile exchange on 2011.

The mission of textile exchange is to promote the sustainable development of textile industry. This acceleration will only happen if measures are taken to ensure that real and meaningful changes are brought about continuously. It is required to fully understand the problem and try to confirm the requirements. Third-party standard certification achieves this.

Global Recycling Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary and comprehensive product standard, which stipulates the third-party certification requirements for recycling content, chain of supervision of production and marketing, social responsibility and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. The goal of GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the harm caused by their production.

Recovery standard:

In response to the strong demand of brands and retailers for environmentally friendly textiles, the certification body of Management Alliance has formulated the first global textile and clothing recycling standard (GRS) to ensure greater procurement transparency through the production supply chain.

The new GRS is a three-level system, which is divided into copper standard, silver standard and gold standard according to the recovery standards of each product. The highest gold standard requires the product to contain 95- 100 recycled materials, the silver standard product to contain 70-95% recycled materials, and the copper standard GRSlogo product to contain no less than 30% recycled materials.

All standard products must show the percentage of recycled components and be marked with appropriate gold, silver and copper GRS marks.

MarkProsé, head of the certification body of the Management Alliance, said that the global recycling standard was formulated to meet the expanding demand of the textile industry and support them to use recycled materials to produce environmentally friendly products. The pillar of the standard is the tracking plus tracking system, which supports the requirements of textile mills and brands for recycled product components.

The management alliance said that for the tracking plus tracking system, they will use the transaction authentication system instead of the virtual online system, because not everyone in the supply chain is willing to expose costs or any secrets.
