What are primary colors, intermediate colors, composite colors and complementary colors?
Today, the UI training class took us to understand the concepts of primary color, intermediate color, composite color and complementary color, which is the most basic knowledge of color.

Classification of colors

1, primary color:

Primary colors, also known as primary colors, refer to raw materials that can be mixed into all other colors. The primary colors are red, yellow and blue.

2. Intermediate color:

Intermediate color, also called secondary color, is a mixture of three primary colors. The middle colors are orange, green and purple.

Secondary color (intermediate color):

Red+yellow = orange, yellow+blue = green, red+blue = purple.

3. Multicolor:

Also known as the third color, two tones are added to form a composite color, or dark and turbid colors are mixed with a primary color to form a composite color.

The third color (multicolor):

Orange+green = red+yellow+yellow+blue = orange green (yellow gray)

Orange+purple = red+yellow+red+blue = orange-purple (red-gray)

Purple+green = red+blue+yellow+blue = purple-green (blue-gray)

When we observe the intermediate color and the composite color, we must first determine what color they prefer, what color to give priority to and what color to add, and then analyze their light-dark relationship.

If we compare the primary color, intermediate color and composite color, the primary color is the strongest, the intermediate color is the second, and the composite color is the weakest, so the composite color is soft and comfortable, and the gray level is high, we will also define it as elegant color.

Complementary color:

Complementary colors are also called complementary colors and complementary colors. The relationship between one of the three primary colors and the other two primary colors is the relationship of complementary colors.

If the primary color red is mixed with the other two primary colors yellow and blue, it is complementary. In other words, red is the complement of green, and green is the complement of red; Similarly, yellow and purple, blue and orange are complementary colors.

There are many complementary colors in nature, for example, blue sky and orange Lin Qiu; The green fields and the tile houses with red roofs are complementary colors. Here are a few examples:

The complementary colors with reduced purity are quite harmonious.

This scene in Angels Love Beauty is a typical complementary color of red and green.

Complementary colors are also very useful in interior decoration, fresh and lively.

Painting is called contrasting color, which generally means complementary color. Generally speaking, the complementary color must be a contrasting color, but the contrasting color is not necessarily a complementary color. For example, black and white are contrasting colors in lightness, but they are not complementary colors.

The two complementary colors are together, mutually exclusive, and the contrast is strong, and the colors show the effect of jumping and refreshing. Making good use of the complementary color relationship will make the whole picture bright, full of vitality, highlight the sense of existence and catch people's attention. If you don't use it well, you will feel too vulgar and colorful.

When matching colors, we should consider the proportion of two complementary colors, one at a time, depending on our occasion, skin color and personality characteristics.
