Chandrabos &; M·M· Kilavani (nominated for Best Original Song Award/"RRR")
Chandra Bos: Director Rajamuri asked me to write lyrics for this song. One day, when I was driving home, NaatuNaatu's lyrics popped up in my mind. I immediately wrote four words on the car. When I got home, it took me an hour to finish the whole song.
Kilavani: This song is about all the interesting jobs a person has experienced in his motherland and all the interesting childhood times. What's his favorite game? What sports do they often participate in? All these works are explained in this song and expressed in a very dynamic way. "Naatu" means nation: we have our own things, exactly the same things, things that belong to our own identity. "Naatu" also has the meaning of country: this is a song from the local area, which is related to everything that has been produced in our country and country; They are the things you cherish all your life.
Shi Zhiyu (Oscar nomination for best animated feature film/youth transformation)
I told the company executives that "The Metamorphosis of Fanghua" is a very common story, and we all have similar experiences! We all woke up one day when we were teenagers and found that we had grown several centimeters overnight. She really wants to be the perfect child in her mother's mind. But at the same time, Xiaomei is also growing and changing, even becoming a strange body without her mother realizing it, but maybe she will finally start to like, hug and fall in love with this strange self.
Kazuo ishiguro (Nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay Award/Desire for Life)
The last time I saw the original (Kurosawa 1952 movie "Desire for Life") may have been 30 years ago, but this is a movie I feel I know very well. I can play it over and over again in my mind. So I thought, I'll just watch it again and put it aside completely. I won't take any notes. After that, no matter what is left in my mind, I will use it truthfully.
Even if you only watch it once, you can see a lot of things that don't attract modern or western audiences. It's too long. The third act is mostly what people say at the funeral. They keep saying it. I don't want to accept all these blues and disappointments. I want to invent a feeling that there is a glimmer of light in the future and the younger generation is ready to act in different ways.
This is the oddity of adaptation. On the one hand, you worship raw materials very much. But you have to have a cold side.
