travel around the world
Kahn was born in March 1860 in Alsace, which borders Germany in eastern France. When he was a teenager, he experienced the Franco-Prussian War, during which his mother died, forcing him to go to Paris to make a living and planting pacifist beliefs in his heart. He believes that understanding different cultures will promote peace between people, so starting from 1898, he set up a scholarship "Autour du Monde" to help young people, especially teachers, travel abroad. He also set up a chair of "Human Geography" in the French Academy, and his generosity gave many young people from France, Britain, Germany and Japan the opportunity to experience different cultures.
