Hanfu, also known as Hanfu, is a traditional costume of the Han nationality in China, also known as Hanfu and Huafu. During the 4,000 years from the accession of the Yellow Emperor to the end of the Ming Dynasty, the etiquette and costume system of several thousand years was formed by the Han Dynasty with Chinese etiquette culture as the center.

Since Huangdi and Yao Shun ruled the world by hanging down their clothes, Hanfu has taken a basic shape. After the inheritance of etiquette and law in the Zhou Dynasty, a perfect costume system was formed, which was popularized to the people in the Han Dynasty and influenced the whole Chinese cultural circle through Confucianism and Chinese legal system.

The basic characteristics of Hanfu are horizontal lapel and straight lapel, which are tied with rope and also with hooks, supplemented by rolled lapel and straight lapel. Structurally, Hanfu is divided into ten parts: collar, lapel, armband, cuff, sleeve, cuff, cuff and tie. A complete Hanfu usually has three layers: underwear, underwear and coat.

Characteristics of Traditional Clothing in China

In China's clothing system, a large body cutting method is characterized by a square body with one end straight. Both men and women can wear it in Han Dynasty. This kind of dress appeared as early as the Western Han Dynasty, but it can't be used as a formal dress.

The Eastern Han Dynasty began to appear in formal occasions such as banquets. Yan skirt is a kind of Hanfu. The blouse worn on the top and the skirt tied on the bottom are collectively called Yan skirt, which is a typical clothing system of "top and bottom clothes". The coat is called a raft, which is very short, usually no longer than the knee, and the bottom is called a skirt. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the tops were relatively short, and the shape of the half arms was like today's short-sleeved shirts. Because its sleeve length is between long sleeve and crotch, it is called half arm.

Round neck robes first appeared in Shang Dynasty. With the gradual unification of costumes in the Han Dynasty, round neck robes were mainly worn as underwear. After Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Northern Wei Dynasty, founded by Xianbei people, began to be dressed as a formal suit, which was popular from Sui and Tang Dynasties to the end of Ming Dynasty.
