In fashion design, fashion modeling belongs to the category of three-dimensional composition. To put it simply, fashion design is a process of combining points, lines and surfaces organically to form a perfect shape by using the principle of formal beauty.

No matter how the style of clothing changes, its modeling elements are composed of points, lines and surfaces, and these elements have different properties, characteristics and functions. Understanding and mastering these modeling elements is the basic knowledge of learning fashion design.

Ancient clothing can generally be divided into two basic types:

① Block material type: It consists of a large piece of sewing material, wrapped or hung on the body, and sometimes tied with a belt. For example, clothes worn by ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks.

(2) Sewing type: cut and sewn with fabric or fur leather to make jackets and the earliest pants. This primitive clothing style still exists in many ethnic groups, such as the clothes worn by Eskimos and some ethnic groups in Central Asia.
