As a kind of material and cultural heritage, Buyi costumes have a close relationship with national cultural customs, and also have a direct relationship with ethnic regional relations and climate characteristics. The Buyi culture originated from ancient Yue, so the national costumes retain the ancient traditional culture.

Clothing features: Buyi men and women like to wear blue, blue, black and white clothes. Young and middle-aged men often wear headscarves, double-breasted short clothes (or long-sleeved clothes) and trousers. Most elderly people wear double-breasted jackets or robes. Women's clothing varies from place to place, some wear blue-black pleated dresses, some like embroidered clothes, some like to wrap their heads with white towels and bring silver bracelets, earrings, collars and other accessories. Women in Huishui and Changshun wear big skirts, shorts and trousers, embroidered bibs and homemade plaid cloth on their heads. Buyi women like to wear silver bracelets or bone bracelets, rings, silver hairpins, collars and other ornaments. Some Buyi elderly women still keep their traditional costumes, with blue cloth on their heads, blue collarless double-breasted jackets, big sleeves, embroidered seams and lower corner piping. Most of them wear blue-black pleated skirts, some wear green cloth waists or embroidered aprons, exquisite embroidered shoes on their feet and upturned noses. The whole set of clothing integrates textile, printing and dyeing, flower picking and embroidery.
